    Hello everyone,

As most people know, I am an independent player on Piratecraft and have made my own crew “Viper”. The main reason for my independence was for the sole fact that I was able to handle myself in battles and was able to time my attacks in order to gain advantage on the battle ground.  After recently playing 1.9 and realizing that my techniques in PVP will no longer be as beneficial moving forward, I have had to realize that strength will now come in numbers.  Gapples are being nerfed and I will not be able to survive in a battle by myself.  With all this being said I know that COV and I are one in the same as I will fight beside them in almost all conflicts that arise. However I would like to remain distant in the fact that Viper can do their own thing if decided. The server is so closely connected and killing someone will most likely lead to drama with another crew that’s why I have stayed independent since the beginning.  I wish to remain semi independent from the drama and do my own thing, that is why Viper will recruit 1-2 active players.

    About Viper

To anyone who wants to know, Viper will be a small group of assassins. Trained to avoid detection and strike their opponents when their guard is down, Viper will be a crew that can take down enemies strategically and with efficiency. As the crew grows with the server, Viper will be available for hire to any crew that needs an individual or a group of individuals “taken care of.” Regardless if this is territory control or a personal vengeance, Viper will and can be bought. (If the price is right)

Individuals who want to apply must be self sufficient. (This is the biggest issue with me letting people join) Other characteristics of potential members are as follows:

    1) Respectable to others (no one cares of the little crap that comes out of everyone’s mouth from time to time) in the sense that you are not a compulsive Dingleberry.

    2) A 5 on the pvp skill level from 0-10. Pvp completely changes with 1.9. Everyone’s ability to fight will change and who knows even Cysteen might be able to slaughter everyone… (Doubtful :P)

    3) Active player

    4) Has no beef with COV or myself

    5) Has the ability to forgive, forget and move on. (See #6)

    6) Has the ability to Not forgive, Not Forget, and Not move on until revenge is had.

    7) Has the determination and mindset to patiently wait for the right moment to attack.

If you are an individual who is interested in joining and meet the above characteristics. Please respond to the forums below. I will consider all applicants and those who are deemed worthy will be chosen to participate in a series of tests to determine if they are Viper material. Only the top 2 will be given the invite to the crew. These tests will take place either this weekend or the following. Let the games begin.

Do you live in the USA? Cyber bullying is a crime. And if you are under 18 you don’t have to ask people to stop at all.

Hello, When filling out a complaint, please be sure to use the proper format. Thank you.

I find it sad that when a long term player is leaving you make this post and 6 people, INCLUDING A STAFF MEMBER liked it. This isn’t how we should act when someone is quitting because someone bullied them…

Well I mean you say that yet I liked to quote because it made this thread slightly more uplifting and on another note it is his choice to leave and killing someone isn’t bullying he never really did anything to stop the “unnamed players” from attacking them like maybe attacking back I mean I get its sad and all that he is leaving but I just don’t think he should make a forum like this I mean if anyone was to live I’d hope they try to leave on a good note and do some type of give away or like a raid for fun or something but I mean he probably has his reasons for leaving but if it really was harassment he should of reported them instead of making this forum (I highly doubt it will count as harassment)

Had to edit because the quote picture messed up

Aha. Some of these stories are so funny. My story, well my real life one is pretty sad, not anything to do with games, just things which have happened :( But i’ll at least tell yall how I got my Username. In Year 6 (5th Grade if your a yank), we were soon to be moving to our secondary school, a teacher of a name of the most incredible name you could think of (Andrews) came & talked to us about SCIENCE! This was my forte & interest since I first started school probably & I’ve always liked Science (probs why i’m taking it for GCSEs, and predicted good grades) & he was teaching us about rockets. He showed us a video of the SSC Bloodhound (before it did it’s record breaking drive last year, I am now in Year 10, this was like 3 years ago perhaps this story when it happened) & made hydrogen gas under a test tube by splitting water with electrodes & then did a ‘pop’ test by igniting the hydrogen. He then gave us the task to make a paper/card rocket & that a competition would arise from it that the rocket which stayed in the air long enough would win. We all got set to work, yet remember how I told you my life is a bit sad (well more so back then) I did this on my own, probably because I wanted all the credit. With an irrational sense of optimism as we walked out onto the fields with our little paper rockets, I was thinking up a good name for my rocket, I had recently watch the film Armageddon (not something a 11 year old boy should have been watching at that age xD) & I thought of calling my rocket that, until it hit me… Palmerageddon. We all stood in a circle as this epic man from the ‘big school’ with his trusty pump on the ground, lowered the first rocket onto it, a build up of air pressure soon was created and POOF! up it went into the sky. He timed it from when it was launched to when it hit the ground. Slowly, more and more people’s rockets were launched, some successful & some not so. I was last, the two girls before me had gotten the best time out of anyone else that day! I stepped slowly up to the pump, handed the shiny bald man my Palmerageddon, & watched as it was pumped full of air. POOF! Up it went, and a good height too, but now listen closely, this is the best part. My rocket had 4 ‘wings’ on the side, 2 at the top, 2 at the bottom. Each was opposite each other & where attached to the rocket in such a way, that the configuration was never quite the same, yet it was what you could call ‘symetrical’. But as the rocket reached it’s highest point, it began to turn onto it’s sides, and the ‘wings’ began to work, those wings worked like parachutes for the thing, & put it at an angle so that it even ‘glided’ in away! Unfortunately for someone in my class, straight into their face xD Yet despite this slight time penalty, I WON!!!!!! Andrews was very proud & intrigued by my small rocket & asked to take it back to the ‘big school’ to show around there, yet promised to bring it back. Another good part was, my rocket held the record for all the schools he visited! This was the rocket which created & forever will hold & treasure the name, Palmerageddon. Infact, I’ve still go the rocket some where xD If I can find it, I’ll take a picture & post it, mind you it is a bit old & so is a bit floppy, but it still brings back those fond memories. -Palmer

waht about water buckets on ships?

Unfortunately, no this is not allowed as well you can also make what seems like a car or a tank with water buckets

Actually, they allow it sometimes, the NRR is building a metro system, however this is a very closed system that cant be exploited, so that may be why they allow it. P.S before you ask yes i have talked to admins about it

    • Message sounds, when players are AFK you can use @username to ping them a sound, it also sends them a sound when you send a /msg, we can customize what commands send them sounds, we can customize the sound too, this may get very annoying so we may remove this later on.

So far, I’m finding this quite annoying 🙂 Every time someone /msg’s me, I get a lovely little note block sounds, and I spent ages trying to see if someone had set up a note block machine near my base 😛

Other than that, I love all the new features, and although the swearing filter might need to be a bit more lenient, I’m all for pirate slang being shown in the chat 🙂

I spent the entire of yesterday moving PirateCraft to a new host from France to our new Dedicated server in Canada, I chose Canada as the new location as the majority of players are from the united states and this should reduce latency.

    What Changed

    • Moved from shared hosting to dedicated server in Canada to improve latency for majority of players in the US.
    • Changed to the default minecraft port 25565, This removes the trickery we had to do in DNS to use our domain IP to connect, this should reduce any issues in the server list when connecting that throws “Cant resolve hostname“. (Minecraft cannot handle SRV records very well)
    • We moved to a bungeecord back-end system, this allows us to add new servers on and we can switch between them in-game and share some data between each, you would have used bungeecord before connecting to any “hub” server, we will not be a generic tacky “hub” server.
    • Slots were bumped, I legitimately have no idea how many slots we can handle, I need to monitor performance, this is a live testing ground.
    • Restarts should be once a day now, 9.30am GMT to be specific when most of you are asleep!
    • We added a new chat system to filter chat, this is piggybacking off the recent behavior thread, this is still in testing and has a lot of changes to be made, its very vast and has a lot of features, I will bullet point a few here:
      • AntiBot – Will not be able to chat until you have moved
      • AntiCaps – Spamming caps will earn yourself some bad-points (Need a better name for bad-points here..) based on the quantity.
      • Anti-Spam – Blocks similar messages being sent repetitively, needs to be tweaked.
      • Bad-points system (needs a better name) Doing bad things in chat, gets you given points that add up, when you reach a threshold you get auto-punished.
      • Chat rules
        • Whitelist for URLS to be pasted into chat, I have allowed all piratemc.com links in chat, this includes being able to paste wiki.piratemc.com links, so start creating your shop pages, start creating your crew pages! You have vast control over the Wiki pages you create 🙂
        • Curse/Swear Filter, this is too aggressive at present and needs to be trimmed down
        • Possible to create a slang correction, Im not sure if this is active at present, for example it could correct “dis” to “this” or “k” to “ok”, please give me some suggestions, Im tempted to filter out “GodsDead” and “Lag” from chat.
        • This also gives us the option to filter out other words and replace them with Pirate-language, this would be fantastic for the swear filter, if anyone wants to write up replacements for bad words like c**t, F**k etc with pirate words, please do and I will update the swear filter.
        • Emoticon replace, at present there is a <3 love heart that gets replaced, and a few smiley faces (that are too small so I will remove them) We have the option to add whatever replacements we want, so have a look at the character map for anything we could include, the love heart seems to be the only one that shows as an actual image.
        • We can create custom replace messages, like :star: puts a star in chat, we could make some pre-set custom responces like :wiki: would paste the wiki or :guides: would put the piratecraft guides link in chat, im open to ideas.
      • Message sounds, when players are AFK you can use @username to ping them a sound, it also sends them a sound when you send a /msg, we can customize what commands send them sounds, we can customize the sound too, this may get very annoying so we may remove this later on.
      • Sign/Book filter, its possible to filter out sign messages and whats written in books too.
      • Group systems; Its possible to put players into groups to set custom settings as listed above (untested)
      • Chat channels; Currently under production, Untested, will be used to create staff & help channels that are invite only
    • We have a Hub, it needs builders, normal players cannot get to this you will need to be manually added to a list by me, PaulOnFire has a build crew and is in charge of this.

    Known Issues

    • The map has black bits and its old, yes a render is happening and it can take a week to complete render.
    • Voting does not work, all voting websites need their IP updated to this new server still.
    • Chat swear filter sucks! and The smiley emoticon is too small! These will be changed, I know, be patient.
    • bans.piratemc.com Punishment tracker will not be live, Needs to be moved.
    • Stats.piratemc.com will not update, Needs to be moved.

If you find any issues please post them, I opened the server at 3am this morning, and could have screwed up a large number of things, as I was half asleep and drinking ale!

Its entirely possible this server ends up sucking or there is a major fault, at which point we may have to move back to the old host, that I know works, hopefully not!

I have never told anyone the origin of my name, It is a secret I have always kept close to my chest and, until today, one I thought I always would. However times change; and things that once where hidden can now come to light. I am sure I am not alone in noticing that the current world of piratecraft is a much safer place than what it once was, and one that is more forgiving too – in fact, I doubt I would suffer much compared to the horrors I would have faced before if I had told my story so for this reason I have decided it is time to make it known.

It sure is a coincidence that this topic came up on the very day I decided to reveal myself.

Anyway, without any more preamble, I shall accurately recount without bias the story of how I got my name and allow the community of piratecraft (in other words, whoever can be bothered to read this) to place judgement upon me. I can only hope it is not too harsh.

I was first given the name of Gildor by my parents, who named me after the popular automatic doors company, http://gildor.com/. I believe that they wished me to become a merchant, and hoped that the prestige of the company would associate with me somewhat, though it was only in my later years that I followed my parent’s wishes.

Unbeknownst to my parents, there was another company that used the name Gildor, https://www.comedy.co.uk/company/gildor_films/. Though my parents wanted the best for me in life, they could not have known the effect this company would have on me and the various ways that my downfall was because of it.

I left the world of education with a PhD in Biological sciences after years of hard work, and prepared to enter the world of science. Keen to finally do something after years of study, I made a career of field research in remote places and happily lived until a few years later, when on an expedition I saw something I should not have seen. The things they keep hidden would shock anyone, but what I saw was impossible to comprehend with a human mind and to this day I do not know what it was, only that there was a thing and I saw it.

Stupidly, I tried to publish a paper on it.

I was contacted by the Gildor film company after this paper had been in circulation for slightly less than a year, and I agreed to work with them on a film involving a fictional conspiracy. They said the paper I wrote, though as a serious peice of scientific work had little merit, when looked at through the eyes of fiction was excellent. I should have known that no real company would show interest in a madman and that it was too perfect for the company to have the same name as me.

They used the film to discredit me and all I had ever worked for, I presume by request of whoever was behind the terrible thing I saw, and as a result I became known as “stinky” throughout the scientific world.

I had to leave the continent; people do not take kindly to those who make mistakes in that part of the world. This was the point I entered the world of piratecraft.

With my career in tatters and my reputation ruined, I turned to all that was left; business. First I tried a publishing company with little success, until advancements in chemical technology led to a new breed of “custom” potions being discovered. Seeing the opportunity, I used my last money and rented a shop where I could sell these potions at a large trading port under control of the British Empire.

The people of this world had not heard of my ‘discovery’ so I was able to finally walk safely in the streets and forget about what had happened, though I have kept the name “stinky” in memorium of all I had lost; a career and a reputation.

ah well at least i thought of it

You did not think of it.

A smart idea Brandon but it’s been thought of before and unfortunately is not allowed as this is a see based ships server. No flying ships allowed. Admins take down ships that bypass the system.

I did not know that, though I’ve seen people before with ‘Submarine’ flying ships before, I thought those were fine.

& Brandon, your design is pretty terrible xD, it’s just a pole with a couple of blocks on the top of it.

Infact, it’s not even a pole, it’s a couple of blocks under some other couple of blocks xD

The Bearded Yetis                                            Artist Sebastian Meyer

Bearded yetis are a noble species bound by an ancient code of integrity, honor, respect, dignity, and justice. Known to humans only as myth these days, they are a colorful bunch of characters with wonderful beards every shade and tint you can imagine, and some you can’t, with personalities just as diverse. A mature bearded yeti may live for thousands of years gathering great wisdom from their vast experiences as well as an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the earth and heavens above.

Their lifestyle is one of general autonomy. Not because their antisocial since they really love to gather for the feasts, singing, eating, and dancing with family and friends but mostly due to the fact that there aren’t many bearded yetis around anymore. Humans being a sometimes insecure species tend to kill what they don’t understand or doesn’t fit with their worldview. So, like many other magnificent creatures throughout history the bearded yetis have been hunted and forced into hiding.

In general a peace loving, hard working and joyful lot yet when they or the family and friends are threatened the bearded yeti will unleash their inner beast. Not with the intent to kill, unless absolutely necessary, but to restore peace. Because of their value of justice they have been known to plot against those who have attacked or betrayed them or their friends and family. They are very patient as well waiting and biding their time until justice is served. So do not mistake their kindness for weakness as that would be a costly mistake.

    MrBluBeardedYeti origins

Our story begins with a salty old codger by the name of MrClusterFluxin. Now old Clusterfluxin in his younger days, to put it mildly, was as wild and nasty as pitbull on lsd, mayhem, metal, and motorcycles were the only life he knew. Even though he lived as an outlaw he lived by the code of honor (which was very much like that of the bearded yetis) his pops taught him as a child. That code helped him survive that old life of his with a small part of his soul intact giving him a second chance to become the man his father knew he would.

The day came when Fluxin would take trip into the Himalayan Mountains, mostly to clear his conscience and make peace with all he had done. As he climbed the mountainous terrain he ran out of food and became quite hungry. He felt as if he would not survive the night when he came across a strange rather large sheep sleeping curled up under a rock. It was dark; he was starving; so he killed the sheep, skinned it, and ate it. While he sat by the fire eating, he looked over at the sheep skin and could have sworn it had a small red beard. Figuring the red hue came from the blood splattering while slaughtering the animal and being delirious from exhaustion he fell asleep never giving it a second thought. The next morning he found a nearby cave that overlooked the small village of Gatlang high atop a ridge in the Tamang region right at the border of Nepal and Tibet and settled in.

A week or maybe two had gone by when from deep down in the bowels of that cave began a rumble so guttural so sickening that even the bats were afraid to move. It seemed as if time had stood still as a deafening silence fell. Then a shriek that sounded like a hundred thousand babies getting their booster shots all at once split the air as shadows flickered across the cave walls from the small fire that was lit to keep warm. ClusterFluxin sat paralyzed as the giant white beast emerged. Eyes black as coal pierced the very soul of ClusterFluxin. He had a huge bluish tinted beard that glowed as if on fire and long white fur that was matted into dreadlocks that covered the seven foot tall four hundred pound monster.

ClusterFluxin knew this was his penitence, his payment in full for his crimes against humanity. This creature was the manifestation of his hubris all the evil he had done in the name of selfish gain. He managed to shake off the initial shock and the fear melted allowing him to get his bearings. If he was going to survive this he had to fight. Reaching into the fire he grabbed a stick, the end smoldering and red. The beast lunged as Fluxin strafed right stabbing the Yeti in the eye burning it out of its socket. Growling and howling in pain the giant spun around smashing ole ClusterFluxin in the chest with five inch razor sharp claws flaying him open and crushing his ribs. He could feel the hot stench of its breath on his face as he came to and opened his eyes.

Defeated, he stared numbly into its cold black gaze waiting for the beast to devour him, accepting, even feeling somewhat relived as he faced his death.

Then a wave of sorrow and true repentance crashed upon him like a sledgehammer. In the depths of his soul he began to see all those people he had harmed over his lifetime even feeling their pain both emotionally and physically. He was shown the aftermath of his actions of how those men and women lived out their lives after he had destroyed them. He saw how his actions had changed them, broken them, changing their lives forever.

    He wept and repented.

Simultaneously he saw his abusers and traumas he had endured just as if everything was happening right then. Like when the family friend that used to babysit told him not to tell anyone about their special times together when he was not much older than a toddler, the bullies that relentlessly tormented him in elementary school or the divorce that ripped his family apart. On and on the parade of memories went by.
Now this once feared and hard man forced to face his own brokenness wept and forgave.

As the process continued he had a new sensation begin to overwhelm him. There was lightness as if a mountain was being lifted from his chest. He could take a full breath for the first time in years. It didn’t matter that that it would only last a few more moments.

The Yeti poised to strike the fatal blow reaches out embracing MrClusterFluxin behind his head with his massive hand pulling ClusterFluxin in close then speaks “You killed my only son on the side of this mountain and devoured his flesh. I found his pelt and carcass when I returned from the country side.” He was barely able to get the words past his quivering lips. His eyes welled up with a mixture of anger and deep loss. “I went to the high court to plead for justice. Flesh for flesh, soul for soul. You humans have taken everything from me. My wife was killed for her head.” Unable to contain his emotions any longer he shouted and growled “JUST FOR THE SPORT OF IT.” ClusterFluxin involuntarily relived himself at the ferocious sound. “But I was reminded that we are eternal, just as matter cannot be destroyed but merely changes form. So I chose to move on to the realm beyond this one and join my family there.” His demeanor began to soften “Instead of justice I chose mercy and grace. Murder and vengeance is not our way. But, as with any action there are consciences. For me to go to the realm beyond death and be with my family a sacrifice needs to be made. That sacrifice is your old identity.” Not quite understanding what the yeti meant Clusterfluxin didn’t care. To have a second chance to right the wrongs he did was worth whatever it took. The yeti spoke one last time “The King has pardoned you as I requested. Now as the old you died here today a new life will begin. I must go and you will now take my place. You have found the peace you so desperately longed for as have I.” A flash of red then white and gold began to strobe around them. In an instant ClusterFluxin was looking at the shell of his body lying on the floor of the cave.

As the unsettling grogginess of what just occurred wore off and his head began to clear, the realization that he was now indeed, by some miracle, merged with that yeti. MrClusterFluxin was dead. He was forgiven. He was reborn as the MrBluBeardedYeti.

Still bearing the scars from their fight most notably the missing left eye he began to take inventory. He was still himself or at least his consciousness and memories were still intact but something was different. It was like the yeti had left a piece of himself behind. Actually it felt like more than just a piece but he couldn’t quite put it into words. There was a duality yet an oneness. “Well” thinking to himself “Plenty of time to ponder these mysteries later. I need to get out of here and start fresh. Make right my wrongs and maybe, even help others that are searching for peace find it.” He walked to the precipice of the caves mouth and surveyed the landscape whilst stroking his majestically glowing blue beard. Embracing his new identity as MrBluBeardedYeti and with a renewed sense of purpose he stepped into the unknown.

I’ve been reading through the forums and wiki off and on since i started playing here checking out what the Piratecraft community is about. I have seen that there are really good writers here. Some of the nations and crew histories are fascinating, well thought out and well written. It gives a richness and understanding to the interactions and community that you see in game.

Lets see what kind of backstory you can come up with for your in game character.

Maybe you have some lore about different places, builds, events, whatever that would fit in the server theme that you could post here.

Historians for the nations and crews if you have stuff written in other parts of the website or wiki post a link or copy and paste it here.

I have even seen books/short stories for sell in game so authors leave a teaser for your work and the coordinates for the shop where they can be bought.

    Don’t be shy, be creative.

I know you might be thinking ‘I am not a good writer’ or ‘I wasn’t really thinking about developing a character when I came up with my Minecraft username’ but don’t let that stop you. Whether you consciously thought about it or not our usernames, skin design, even how we play the game, reflects pieces of who we are and who we want to be. What I am suggesting is that you take a minute expand on that a bit. Good or bad, well written or barely legible, I believe everyone has a story to tell.

It would be cool to have a collection of origins and lore in one place for all to read both new players and old.

I’ll copy and paste the MrBlubeardedYeti origins I wrote for the players section of the wiki below to get us started.

Update: Still moving Essentails files, that’s all homes & balances for every player, its entirely because I cannot compress a file on my current host, otherwise it would of taken less than 2 mins. So far its 5 hours, and I haven’t even copied over the world yet!
